“Friends” …does not always imply “Friend Zone”

I see much confusion over the term “Friends” here..as well as other places. So girls like when you smile at them?

I have no idea what's going on here.

She stood up and looked right towards me.

Walter:
I even saw her peeking around her friends backs when they were sitting on the bleachers together.

I walked past her and I saw her looking at me in the corner of my eye.

Walter:
I noticed that she was talking to her friends (probably telling them). Now for the last 3 days, she would glance over and look at me.

She noticed and when I noticed that she saw, I started running again because I got shy lol.

It was literally just me and her on the one side of the track and I do think she's pretty so I gave her a smile.

We were all pn the track and she was pretty much just leaning on the railing.
